We have structured the open day so beginners can have fun sampling many classes. Open day is for absolute beginners, you don’t need any experience or baseline fitness, you’re in the right place.
Wear something you’re comfortable sweating in. Longer pants that cover the knee, along with a t-shirt or tank top work for most beginners, as you will be kneeling and using your leg to grab the pole. Shorts and crop top sets are also welcome but you may be a little less comfortable as more of your skin touches the pole and floor.
Recommended footwear includes bare feet or indoor rubber-soled shoes. We DO NOT recommend wearing high heels of any kind for beginners.
If you are taking the Confidence Sampler, bring a long sleeve top to wear during Aerial Yoga
Absolutely, we are an all-inclusive studio, a community based on mutual respect and acceptance regardless of race or gender identity. All are welcome!
Tantra Fitness prides itself on being THE fitness alternative for the every-day human. Open Day classes are low-moderate intensity, focusing on fun, not just fitness.
Our moderate intensity classes include TwerkOut, Pole Conditioning, Build a Booty, Floorwork and Pole Theatre. Our Low intensity classes are Intro to Pole, Intro to Erotic Pole, Aerial Yoga, Sexy Flexy.
For anyone at any fitness level, we always recommend you consult your physician before starting a new fitness program. Once you have been cleared to participate by your physician, sign up to our Open Day to find a dance style that fits you! The Tantra Fitness community is one of the most supportive, fun, and welcoming bunch of people you’ll ever meet in Vancouver! Come in and experience the warm fuzzies:)..
Of course! Everybody is welcome. Many members of our community are men. Although it can feel a bit daunting to walk into what has traditionally been a feminine space, we encourage participation from all genders.
Please refrain from applying oil or oil-based moisturizers within 1.5 hours of a pole lesson as this will prevent your skin from properly adhering to the pole. We do however recommend applying a water-based moisturizer in the morning of the day of your pole class, as completely dry skin also has difficulty adhering to the pole.
Everyone may feel a little nervous at first–new studio, new people, new environment! After Open Day you will fall in love with our bright, funny, and supportive community! Our Instructors and staff are friendly and professional, and, although some classes are more sensual in nature (such as Lap Dance and Erotic Pole Dance) there is absolutely no nudity, and you will do only what feels comfortable for you in a non-competitive and safe environment.
Good spotting! We are in the midst of a rebrand and our Kitsilano studio is the first to champion our new brand, Be1Fitness. Our flagship Gastown and Mount Pleasant studios still sport our Tantra Fitness branding for now. Keep an eye on our Instagram page as Open days in all studios will be promoted in June & July!
We start teaching the foundations of inverting and pole tricks in Pole 303A, B, and C, not in intro classes. You will have a chance to invert from the ground if you take pole conditioning during open day!
Pole dancing is a body weight resistance exercise. Every time you perform a move, you get a great stretch, keeping your muscles long and lean as opposed to short and bulky, which lifting weights can often do. Pole Dancing offers a complete body workout combining strength training, fat burning and stretching. Why struggle to find the willpower to go to the gym? Get excited about working out! You are so focused on learning the moves that you forget you are even exercising.
Practice makes perfect! Once you have attended open day you will know what dance style calls to you. We have progressive levels for each style, and you will be ready to take the level 1 classes. We are also giving away 1 6 month membership, everyone who attends open day has a chance to win! This will mean you get to practice all you have learned and build your skills over 6 months. Many students enroll in several different levels and class types at the same time. For safety reasons, always be sure you are not attending a class that is too advanced. Also, take advantage of Open Studio Practice time!
Admission to X number of classes, access to photoshoot set up, DJ performances, and access to vendors.
No, our system will have your name at the door, you’re our VIP. Just wear workout clothes and leave the rest to us. We got you.
Tickets are not refundable.
We have limited group sizes so you can focus on dance and not strain to hear what our teachers are saying. Tickets will sell out so get yours while you can.
We use Wellness Living to look after you and our members. By getting a ticket you sign up to the Wellness Living class app. You can choose to download it to your phone or log in on a PC to update your profile but this isn’t necessary. Once you have your ticket, we reserve a spot just for you.
